The Kuniya College Literature Festival (KCLF) 2025 organized by Kuniya College of Arts and Science unfolded as a vibrant and meaningful celebration of literature, art, culture and conversation. The festival brought together writers, poets, journalists, artists and students in a shared space of creativity and learning.
Inaugural Ceremony
The festival began with an inspiring inaugural session attended by V. D. Satheesan (Opposition Leader of Kerala), Kalpatta Narayanan (Renowned Novelist & Poet), K. P. Ramanunni (Novelist and Short-Story Writer) and Dr. Sreedaran (Professor, Department of Malayalam, Kannur University). Mr. Yahiya V. U, Director of Kuniya College and Principal Dr. Faiz Abdulla welcomed the guests. Rasheeq Ul Rahman delivered the welcome address and Shamshad, College Union Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
The festival featured a series of panel discussions on diverse themes:
• “The Changing Seasons of Poetry” featured Kalpatta Narayanan and Divakaran Vishnumangalam, moderated by Habeeb Rahman, exploring how poetry evolves with time, emotion and society.
• “The Journeys of the Novel” brought together K. P. Ramanunni and Sheela Tomy, with Dr. Manjula P. as moderator, discussing the depth and direction of narrative fiction.
• “Between the Lines”, a poetry reading session led by Dr. Rukhya M.K. and moderated by Dr. Aysha Shama Rahmath, explored deeper meanings hidden within poetic lines.
• “New Media in the Post-Truth Era: Ethics, Freedom and Creativity” featured N. S. Abdul Hameed and Dr. Ashraf, moderated by Yahya K., examining the role of media today.
• “Unveiling Bureaucracy” with M.P. Joseph IAS and chaired by Fathima Mujeeb, offered insights into public service and the human side of administration.
• “Campus Qissakal” brought student leaders Arya Rajeevan and Vishnu Prasad together in a spirited discussion moderated by Shamshad, exploring campus culture and student leadership.
• “Kasrotte Cinema Visheshangal (Kasaragod Cinema Highlights)” featured Unniraj Cheruvathur, Chithra Nair and Baby Karthika, moderated by Sudhilash, discussing the unique stories and challenges of regional cinema.
• “Kathayude Varthamaanam” with Amalraj Parammel and Mridul V. M. focused on the current trends and themes in storytelling.
• “Neelakasham, Pachakadal, Chuvannabhoomi” brought together Abreeda Banu, Shuhaib and Muhammed Jamsheed Y, moderated by Hanna Mehthar, reflecting on travel, nature and memory.
• “Thoulavam: Land, History and Narrative” featured Dr. A. M. Sreedharan and Dr. Jayarajan Kanad, moderated by Dr. Binoy M., discussing the past and present of Tulu Nadu.
• A lively football-themed session was also held with Mohammed Rafi and Bentla D’Coth, moderated by Dr. Jeena T. C, highlighting sports journeys and aspirations.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony featured Shanavas Padhoor (Vice President, District Panchayat, Kasaragod) as Chief Guest. The event also included addresses by Shaheeda Rashid (Former Ward Member), Dr. Fayiz Abdulla (Principal), Dr. Aysha Shama Rahmath (HoD of English), Shamshad (Union Secretary) and Izzan Nisa (Union Vice Chairperson). Shamshad delivered the vote of thanks.
KCLF 2025 brought together literary richness, creative expression and youthful enthusiasm. With inspiring discussions, diverse voices and active student involvement, the festival embodied the essence of Kuniya College, a place where ideas take shape and expression finds its voice.
