Kuniya College of Arts & Science host to an extraordinary event that embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship and talent. From October 6th to 7th, 2023, the campus buzzed with excitement as the Kannur University Intercollegiate Chess Tournament took centre stage, showcasing the talent and camaraderie of young chess enthusiasts.
The tournament began with a grand opening ceremony on October 6th at 10:00 AM. Sri. Raju M. C, a respected member of the Kannur University Syndicate, inaugurated the event, praising Kuniya College for its dedication to sports and promising support for future endeavours.
Under the leadership of Dr. Abbas T. P, the college principal, and with the hard work of Dr. Jeena T. C and her team, the tournament ran smoothly. With the guidance of experienced arbitrators and selectors from Kannur University, fairness and integrity were ensured throughout.
Teams from 32 colleges eagerly registered, each bringing six players. Over the next two days, the tournament unfolded seamlessly. The selectors kept a keen eye on the players, scouting for talent to represent Kannur University.
As the tournament concluded, deserving winners were celebrated in a prize distribution ceremony. Dr. Abbas T. P and Sri. Muhammed E. V. P honoured the victors, surrounded by dignitaries and supporters.
