The NSS Unit No. 98 of Kuniya College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with the Kasaragod District Literacy Mission, successfully organized ‘Ullas’ as part of the International Literacy Day celebrations. The program highlighted the vital role of literacy in building empowered individuals and progressive communities.
The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. Faiz Abdulla K, Principal of Kuniya College of Arts and Science, who emphasized the importance of education in promoting equality, opportunities and social transformation. In his address, he reminded the gathering that literacy is not just about learning to read and write but also about developing critical thinking and life skills that lead to personal growth and community development.
The gathering was enriched with a keynote address by Mr. P. N. Babu, District Coordinator of the Literacy Mission, Kasaragod. He spoke about the vision and ongoing initiatives of the Literacy Mission in eradicating illiteracy and uplifting marginalized sections of society. He encouraged the audience to be active contributors in spreading awareness and supporting literacy efforts within their own surroundings.
The celebration of ‘Ullas’ also highlighted the global theme of International Literacy Day, reminding participants of the need for collective responsibility in ensuring access to education for all.
The program concluded with a renewed sense of awareness and responsibility inspiring everyone present to recognize the power of literacy as a driving force for progress and social change.
