The NSS Unit of Kuniya College organized a meaningful 7-day community campaign at GUPS Ayambare. The camp provided a platform to build leadership skills, encourage social responsibility and strengthen the connection between students and the community through a variety of enriching activities.
Day 1: A Promising Start
The camp was inaugurated by Shri. C. K. Aravindakshan, President of Pullur Periya Panchayath. His presence added significance to the initiative, which reflects the institution’s strong commitment to community development and student engagement.
Day 2: Greening the Grounds and Artistic Inspiration
Volunteers took part in a garden-making session enhancing the school’s environment with greenery. This was followed by an engaging orientation class titled ‘Sora Parachil’, led by Nibin Raj M, actor and director who encouraged students to find meaning and creativity in their service journey.
Day 3: Embracing the Spirit of Service
The day began with cleaning activities focused on walls and water tanks. A session titled ‘Know the NSS’ by Sajith Kumar B, author and soft skill trainer provided valuable insights into the purpose and potential of NSS work. The day concluded with a vibrant folk song performance by Nikun Koppal.
Day 4: Honoring the Soil, Protecting the Future
Environmental cleaning kicked off the day followed by a heartfelt tribute to V. Balakrishnan Kanathunkal, a respected local farmer, honored as the ‘Son of the Soil.’ An informative session on ‘Climate Change and Sustainable Development’ was led by K. Balachandran Master from Haritha Kerala Mission, Kasaragod. The day ended with ‘The Magic Within’, a motivational talk by life skill trainer Sanal Padikanam.
Day 5: Into Nature’s Heart
A visit to Odakkolli Cave under the title ‘Know the Environment’ offered students a chance to experience the beauty of nature and understand the importance of environmental conservation.
Day 6: A Feast of Culture and Unity
The NSS team visited Uralamkodi, the adopted village of the unit. The local community welcomed them warmly, preparing a traditional feast that celebrated cultural exchange and mutual respect. The visit highlighted the importance of building real connections with people.
Day 7: A Memorable Conclusion
The closing ceremony marked the successful completion of the camp. The Best Volunteer Award was presented to recognize outstanding commitment. As part of the event Kuniya College donated a printer to GUPS Ayambare, strengthening its academic infrastructure. The event concluded with the NSS flag-off symbolizing the ongoing journey of service and meaningful action.
NSS Camp 2025 stands as a powerful reminder of how community service can shape perspectives, build character and bring about change. Through hands-on experiences and heartfelt interactions, Kuniya College students have grown as responsible, active contributors to society.
